KND: 060- Rejection

Abby always assumed, that deep down inside, that Hoagie knew how she felt about him. She didn't think it was something that had to be said or confirmed, that it was just something that was felt, and she was content with that.

Sure he was a flirt, a bit of a lady's man, but she never thought he would betray her trust. But then as she saw him in Kuki's arms, it dawned on her, that maybe, he needed those words. Those words she never felt any obligation to say. That maybe he truly didn't know.

Tears slowly slid down her face as she slipped away unnoticed by the couple.

Before she knew it, she was outside Wally's door, banging on it as if her life depended on it. She could see the anger on his face as he opened the door, and it was then she realized how late it was. But as he saw her tears, his anger quickly vanished, replaced with concern.

At that moment, she ran into his arms and buried her face in his chest and cried harder than she ever let anyone see.

Abby always considered herself the calm one, the collective one, the one who always knew what was going on, but Hoagie and Kuki? That was straight out of left field, and she knew if she hadn't seen it, there was no way Wally had figured it out.

She didn't want to tell him, his feelings for Kuki had always been clear, but she didn't want to be in pain on her own. She knew it was selfish, and that he would be devastated, but he had to know. And she refused to have him find out the way she had. He would not have been able to take that kind of visual rejection. . . and how could he, when she barely could?
